In this round table discussion, you’ll have the opportunity to have your wage and hour and employee classification questions answered. Recently there has been a great deal of concern regarding changes to definitions of overtime eligible and overtime exempt employees. This includes making fewer workers exempt from overtime. This along with recent increases in unpaid overtime enforcement actions changes in how workers can be classified as either “employee” or “independent contractor.” New Rules are effective Dec. 1, 2016. Is your company ready? We’ll look at the criteria for understanding what makes an employee overtime eligible or exempt; what constitutes an “employee” or “independent contractor; how to resolve wage and hour and classification disputes in-house; and how enforcement agencies and the courts handle these disputes.
